As a way to combat drought and desertification and the problems they represent for the environment, the society and the economy where these phenomena occur, Food-Network Mértola brings regenerative agro-ecology to Alentejo, in southern Portugal.
Through awareness raising, education and skills development, this project seeks to:
- Increase local food-resilience and contribute to healthy and more sustainable food consumption (100% local, organic food)
- Develop entrepreneurial and vocational training opportunities
- Enable agricultural value-chains under regenerative agriculture and ecosystem restoration approaches.
